The Arsenal attacker has told his manager that he is fit for sunday’s game with the red devils, despite picking up a knock on international duties with chile.
According to Goal, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Alexis Sanchez sent him a text to say that he ‘was’ in good shape for the gunners’ trip to Manchester United.
Sanchez was forced to miss Chile’s world cup qualifier with Colombia after picking up a calf problem in training, but eased concern over his fitness by returning to start the international game Uruguay.
Arsenal face United at Old Trafford on Saturday, with Sanchez due to rejoin club training on Friday after flying back to london from South America. Wenger is waiting to see Alexis before making a final. Judgement on his fitness, but reveals the player believes henis ready to go.
“we were in doubt before the game, 24 hours before the game”, wenger said in his pre-match press conference.
“We didn’t know if he will be playing or not but in the end they decided to play him.
” He text us back to say he was in good shape after 84 minutes, and then we have to wait and see tomorrow morning, and see if he can be involved in the squad or not”.
Alexis scored twice for Chile against Uruguay in Tuesday’s 3-1 victory, helping move Juan Antonio Pizzi’s side above Argentina, in the race for automatic qualification.
The 27-year-old has been a key figure for the Gunners so far this season, starting up front for Wenger ahead of Olivier Giroud, where he has scored six premier league goals in 11 games.
Arsenal are currently sitting in fourth, six points ahead of Manchester United, and can open that gap further with a win on Saturday, pushing Jose Mourinho’s side away from champions league qualification.
