A first class graduate from the University of Uyo known as Ukeme Asuquo, died in the NYSC camp, Tsafe, Zamfara state.
The petroleum engineering graduate passed away on Thursday, December 1, with diarrhea as the known cause.
According to his friend who broke the news, he said Ukeme never wanted to go for the One-year mandatory service and broke down when he received his call-up letter.
Ukeme finished as the overall best engineering student in his set and also won 4 scholarships.
Below is the emotional letter by his friend:
“November 21st, I helped you check your state of deployment online.
” November 22nd, we went to itam market to buy our kits for the orientation excersice
November 23rd, we all departed Uyo to our respective camps.
December 1st, I got the sad news that you are no more
What a ruthless world.
Itam, whatever reason that made you leave this world so soon is unfair.
But why now?
After all the stress and sleepless nights we went through for 5 years.
You made a 1st class
You were the overall Best in the ’10 Engineering class.
You won about four scholarships.
You organized free tutorials for junior colleagues and even your own mates.
I really don’t have words to explain how i felt when I heard the news about your untimely demise.
……. And I really can’t understand why God allowed this one to happen.
Brotherly, though you are gone, i know your legacies and impact you created will be forever remembered.”
Ukeme’s demise makes it a total number of dead corps members to 3 within the last few days.
