The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike disclosed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is forming alliance with the All Progressive Party (APC) to rig the 2019 elections.
The Governor disclosed this on Saturday during a thank you visit to Etche Local Government Area for their support to his party during the recently concluded local government election, Governor wike said, “INEC is planning to rig the 2019 election.”
“They claim they are re-deploying the 23 Electoral Officers in the state. But we have authentic intelligence report that INEC has consulted APC and they plan to post pliant Electoral Officers from APC states to Rivers State.
“These pliant Electoral Officers being handpicked from APC states are to help in rigging the elections in 2019,” he added.
The Governor also said that no matter the deceitful postings by INEC to Rivers State will yield a meaningful result for rigging elections.
“If they like, let them post their fathers to Rivers State, we will resist any attempt to rig the 2019 elections in the state. Our people will remain vigilant.
“They can rig in another state, certainly not Rivers State. For us, we must elect our representatives through the democratic process. Nobody will intimidate us”, he further explained.
He also said that if INEC plans to shift the electoral system, such reforms must begins from the top. Any reformation from the bottom smacks dissimulation.
“The head is rotten. You have to cut off the head. They should first cut off the head before coming down to the lower rung of the ladder,” he said.
The Governor added that no lives was lost in the February 25, 2017 Etche/Omuma Federal Constituency Election due to the professional conduct of the security agency.
He said once the security agencies follow electoral guidelines, elections will hold peacefully and the actual representatives of the people will win.
While praising the Etche people ffr standing firm during the supplementary Election, the Governor was positive the people will benefit from his government.
The representative of Etche/Omuma Local Constituency, Chief Jerome Eke disclosed that the several rerun election in the State has confirmed Governor Wike as a true leader of the State who has the support of his subject.
He said: “They ordered several rerun elections in Rivers State, instead Governor Wike is now more popular as the entire country has realised that he is on ground and controls the Rivers political space.”
The governor also disclosed the construction of Odufor-Akpoku-Umuoye Road as the consideration to Etche people for voting massively for the PDP during the Etche/ Omuma Federal Constituency supplementary elections.
