The Chairman of the People Democratic Party (PDP) Reconciliation Committee, Governor Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson said no personal interest should put above that of the party which has the umbrella to cover all shades of Nigerians.
The Bayelsa State Governor disclosed that in the process of solving the various issues affecting the PDP, his committee has embarked on a comprehensive dialogue with the party leaders and other major stakeholders to allow unison and confidence in the party before an all inclusive unity national convention to save the party from imploding.
The Governor’s remarks was quoted in a statement signed by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media Relations, Francis Agbo, after a meeting of his committee in Abuja.
According to the Governor, party leaders all over the universe make sacrifices to unify the political system, emphasizing that the PDP leaders cannot act otherwise.
The Governor disclosed, ‘‘I am appealing to all party leaders, critical stakeholders and members across the country to close ranks in the overall interest of our great party.
“Let the revival of our great party be of paramount interest to all and sundry, for we can only further our political interests in a strong political platform.
“We have the potentials to revive the party but we can only do this if we subsume our divergent interests under the umbrella.’’
Nigerians are waiting for the PDP to bounce back and play the role of a virile opposition party, warning that anything to the contrary would be a great disservice to the people and the founding fathers of the party, he said.
