Ex-soldier, 23 others nabbed for robbery, kidnapping and murder. 


Not less than 23 suspects have been paraded by Police in Ebonyi State for various crimes. The suspects included an ex-soldier and 9 others who were arrested for kidnapping, killing and burying a woman. 

The Ebonyi State Police command have paraded an ex-soldier and 23 others for involving in kidnapping, robbery and cultism. 

According to reports gathered, TEN of the suspects including an ex-soldier, Mathew Ogbudike from Lokpanta, Abia State, were accused to have kidnapped, killed and buried Catherine Okorie, 59, in Ishiagu, Ivo local government area. 
Other members of the gang are; Chibuize Okereke, Ezenwa Nnazor, Kelechukwu Azubuike, John Nwakwo, Umeore Udochukwu, Egu Chimezie, Chigozie Enyinaya, Obichi Uzoigwe. 

While parading the suspects at the police headquarters, Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, the commissioner of police, Titus Lamorde, revealed that the suspects were followed and apprehended in different places across the country. 

Lamorde further revealed that Chigozie Enyinaya and Umeore Udochukwu who got weapons to the gang have already opened up to the crime. 

“The suspects also confessed to the kidnapping of one Uchenna Emeblu at Ishiagu along Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway on 30/01/2017 and collected the sum of N400,000 as ransom, robbed one Emeka John on 25/12/2016 and shot him in the eye”, he said.

Mr Lamorde also said that on February 27, Ignatus Edeh of Ofenakpa Inyimagu in Ikwo Local Government Area of the State was apprehended for defrauding a man Nweke Joseph of almost N1.2 million and was also about to dupe a catholic priest of one million naira when he was nabbed.
