Nigeria Communications Commission, NCC, has expressed it’s concern over the inability of internet subscribers to make use of their leftover data after expiration date.

The Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Prof. Umar Danbatta, expressed this during the NCC special day in ongoing 2017 Port Harcourt International Trade Fair.

He noted that it was bad for internet subscribers to lose their leftover data upon it’s expiration date, adding that there was need for the internet providers to begin to rollover data balances.

Danbatta, represented by Mr. Bashir Idris, Head of Projects, NCC, said that the protection of service consumers was one of the 8-point agenda of the Commission, and that the plan, if successful, will add value to the consumers.

Danbatta said: “On this issue of data roll over, the Commission will soon issue a directive to the service providers to give 14 days window to the subscribers to enable them roll over their unused data, even if they do not renew on the expiration of data.

“In order words, this will stop the current practice where subscribers lose their entire unused data if they fail to renew on the data of the expiration of the current subscription.”

He tasked the NCC zonal offices to deliver the message to the every nook and cranny via the commission’s discussion channel.

He also stated that service consumers should be fully attended to in answering their problems.
